Custom Textile Labels and Retail Packaging

Labels and packaging are often the first details a customer sees and checks. For brands, wholesale buyers and retailers working with a private label manufacturer in Turkey, they also need to carry the right information for the destination market. This page explains how DRU Textile handles brand labels, care and size labels, hangtags and retail or export packaging as part of production in Denizli, and how the details are agreed with each buyer before an order goes into production.

Brand Labels and Hangtags

Your brand label and hangtag carry your identity on the finished product. We work from the artwork, size and placement you provide, and the label is checked on the pre-production sample before bulk production starts.

Labels, hangtags and other accessories are managed within the same controlled process as the fabric and the product itself, from yarn to accessory. This keeps the details traceable and avoids last-minute surprises at the packing stage.

Brand labels

A main brand label is usually placed at the neck, side seam or hem, depending on the product. Woven and printed labels are common choices; the material, size, fold type and position are agreed per project.

Hangtags

Hangtags typically carry the brand name, product name, size, a short composition note, a barcode and a price area. Shape, card weight, finish and the attachment method (string, loop or tag pin) are chosen with the buyer, based on the product and how it will be displayed.

Care, Composition and Size Labels

Care labels are usually sewn into a side seam and stay with the product throughout its life. Their content is largely set by the rules of the market where the product is sold, so the final text is always confirmed with the buyer.

As general guidance, a care label typically carries the following information:

  • Fibre composition, using the fibre names required in the destination market (for example 100% cotton, or a blend given in percentages)
  • Care instructions, usually shown as symbols for washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and professional care, sometimes with short text
  • Country of origin, such as Made in Turkey
  • Manufacturer, importer or brand identification where the market requires it
  • Size, which can also be given on a separate size label
  • An internal reference such as a style, batch or lot number, if the buyer wants one

Size labels

Size labels can be woven, printed or combined with the care label. For the baby and children's products we make in sizes for ages 0-8, sizes are often shown by age or height; the format follows your size chart.

Common Label Types at a Glance

The table below summarises label types that are typically used in textiles. It is general guidance rather than a fixed list; the right option depends on the product, the end user and your brand standards.

Label typeTypical useWhat to consider
Woven labelMain brand label on garments, robes and home textilesDurable with a crisp look; edge finish and fold type affect comfort
Printed satin or tape labelCare, composition and size informationSoft and suited to small text; print durability in washing should be checked

Sticker or barcode labelPolybags, boxes and export cartonsBarcode numbers are usually supplied by the buyer

Retail and Export Packaging

Packaging is prepared to the buyer's requirements. There is no single standard pack; the format depends on the product, the sales channel and the destination, and it is agreed per project.

Typical options buyers request include, for example:

  • Individual polybags, with or without a warning text or barcode sticker
  • Folded sets held with a paper band or ribbon, for example for bedding sets or muslin squares
  • Gift boxes or presentation packs for retail and gifting
  • Hanger packing for garments, where the retailer requires it
  • Barcode, size and colour stickers on each unit
  • Export cartons with shipping marks and an agreed number of pieces per carton

Packaging for e-commerce and marketplaces

Online sellers often need packs that are easy to store, scan and ship. Barcode stickers, unit packs and carton contents can be planned around your warehouse or marketplace requirements.

Labelling Rules in Your Destination Market

Textile labelling rules differ by country. For example, the EU has rules on fibre names and composition labelling, and the US has its own requirements for fibre content and care labels. Language, symbol use and the information required on the label can all change from one market to another.

Because the buyer knows the sales market best, compliance with the destination market's labelling rules is confirmed with the buyer before production. We share label proofs and the pre-production sample so that content, language and placement can be checked and approved.

If your product uses certified materials such as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 or GOTS, any reference to the certification on labels or hangtags should follow the certifier's labelling rules. This is also agreed with the buyer, and certificate details are shared on request.

How Labels and Packaging Are Approved

Labels and packaging follow the same sample and approval logic as the product itself. The steps below show how the details move from your brief to the packed carton.

  1. 1Brief and artwork

You share label and packaging artwork, your size chart, care content and any market-specific requirements. If you need support, a draft layout can be worked on together.

  2. 2Proofs and samples

Label proofs and packaging details are prepared and shared for review, together with the product sample.

  3. 3Approval

Content, language, placement and packing method are approved on the pre-production sample before bulk production begins.

  4. 4Production and application

Labels are attached during production and checked in quality control for position, legibility and secure attachment.

  5. 5Packing and export

Products are packed as approved, cartons are marked, and the packing list is prepared for shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most private label orders use the buyer's own artwork for brand labels, hangtags and packaging. We follow your files, sizes and placement guidelines, and the result is checked on the pre-production sample before bulk production.

Both approaches are possible. Labels and packaging materials can be arranged as part of the order according to your artwork, or you can supply your own if you already work with a label supplier. The option is agreed per project and reflected in the quotation.

A care label typically shows fibre composition, care instructions (usually as symbols), country of origin and, in many markets, the identity of the manufacturer, importer or brand. The exact requirements depend on where the product will be sold, so the final content is confirmed with you before production.

Yes, barcodes can be printed on hangtags or applied as stickers to polybags, boxes and cartons. Barcode numbers, such as EAN or UPC codes, are normally assigned by the brand and supplied to us with the artwork. Placement and format are agreed with the buyer.

Special packaging such as gift boxes, printed bands or presentation packs can be prepared on request. Because these affect cost and lead time, the specification, quantities and pricing are confirmed in each quotation.

The product is subject to the rules of the market where it is sold, and the buyer usually knows those rules best. We prepare labels to the content you confirm and share proofs and samples for checking. In this way, compliance with your destination market's labelling rules is confirmed with you before production.
